Canopy Medical Services have provided medical cover teams across the UK for obstacle race events for Spartan Race. This has taken us from Twickenham Stadium, London to Queensferry, Scotland and many other locations across England and Wales.
With the extreme nature of these events, the range of possible medical cases we might encounter is very varied, from race-related trauma to the effects of extreme exertion, some of which might not manifest until after the event itself. We have to be ready at all times, throughout the weekend!
Spartan events usually comprise multiple race events over a two-day period. As some are far from our home base, careful planning to ensure we have all the equipment and products we need is vital.
This will include everything from plentiful supplies of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen, to bandages and splints, Entonox for pain relief, and portable ECG equipment.
We have supported Spartan events with over 5000 people on site per day, in all weathers, and a wide variety of location types. Each comes with its own challenges; careful planning ensures we provide consistently excellent care.
